Rooftop Units, Make Up Air & Exhaust Systems
Taunton Trades also possesses a wealth of commercial and industrial/institutional experience. Rooftop units are essentially a furnace and an air conditioner all in one package. They vary in size from 2 tons of cooling up to 50 plus tons of cooling with various heating configurations. Some larger units incorporate other energy saving items such as multiple fans, on board HRV systems (heat recovery ventilation), de-pressurization fans and extensive other options and features.
Many of these roof mounted units are also connected to building automation and temperature systems which is certainly more common in the larger capacity systems. However it is not uncommon to find these types of units in the 2 to 5 ton capacity in the typical commercial plaza where the individual tenant spaces have office space in the front with workshop/warehouse space in the rear. These units require maintenance which most users are not equipped to do because the unit is accessed by getting on the roof of the building to do so.
